    Information: It's show time!

    Friday, April 24, 2009 - 10:29 AM, (7664 Reads)

On the eve of the Wakefield show, exhibitors will no doubt be frantically preparing so will be forgiven if they're not answering the phones today. The usual wave of press releases have started to flow and some private and public speculation and hints about potential punter purchases has been happening in various discussions.

What we do know is that MW-Software, R-Comp, Sine Nomine Software and CJE have announced that there will be new products or upgrades available at the show. RISCOS Ltd. announced the latest version of Select (5i2, aka 6.14) a few days ago. We're also aware that Steve Potts will be releasing (and demonstrating) an updated version of his VNC Server front end application (previewed at the recent North West User Group meeting) at the show.

In one hint, CJE recently suggested that people might like to attend the show with their original Tablemate install discs, so hopes are high in several quarters that this powerful tool has been saved from abandonment and brought back into the RISC OS world with updates for the latest machines and operating systems.

There's still speculation over whether Stuart Tyrrell Developments will be releasing new hardware at the show.  Vpod was mentioned in an April 1st posting but there's been no follow up announcement, yet the speculation has talked of a number of possibilities if in fact Vpod does exist.

Thanks to everyone involved making this another successful show. It was another very busy show for me and I didn't really get the chance to look around much, but enjoyed it all the same.

Special thanks to everyone who took the time to come and chat to me, it's always good to see friendly faces at the shows.

Sunday has surely been a day of rest today!
