Articles: Health warning for RISC OS 5.15 softload on Iyonix

    Saturday, November 21, 2009 - 12:05 PM, (7282 Reads)

Anyone running the RISC OS 5.15 softload on their Iyonix "should treat it with extreme caution!" according to Steve Revill.

Apparently there have been a number of changes to critical components, including FileCore.  Any faults within these components may result in permanently damaged or lost data.  It is important to note that the changes have not been tested.

Steve has suggested that regular backups should be made, but he notes that these might also be corrupted.  Alternatively, Steve's other suggestion is not to use RISC OS 5.15 but to stick with the eariler 5.14.

The statements by Steve seemed a bit of a departure from his usual upbeat comments, so I guess maybe he's been bitten and wanted to make sure others are aware of the riscs (Pun intended). A sensible move, me thinks.
